Building a Strong Immune System Against Winter Ailments: The Flu Vaccine vs. Vitamin D
Doctors recommend an annual influenza vaccine yet people who receive a flu vaccine two years in a row are significantly more likely than non-vaccinated people to contract the disease. They are also more infectious and have a higher risk of contracting a severe case of pandemic influenza. In contrast, vitamin D is essential to a healthy immune system. Low vitamin D levels in pregnant women have been linked to respiratory infections in their babies. Vitamin D supplementation significantly reduces the risk of influenza, pneumonia, and other respiratory illnesses. In this presentation, important scientific papers on influenza and vitamin D will be summarized. Participants will learn why flu vaccines offer poor protection against winter ailments and how vitamin D offers scientifically proven immune protection against influenza and other respiratory infections.
